Waffles are an essential Norwegian tradition. Not a week goes by in a Norwegian home without a waffle being eaten. Unlike the Belgium waffles, Norwegian waffles are large, soft and fluffy and fit pefectly folded in your hand. 

Makes 8 waffles/pancakes 

Ingredients: 

  • 5 dl all-purpose flour
  • 100 ml sugar
  • 2 ts baking powder
  • 1 ts cardamom
  • 5 dl milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 50 ml melted butter

Method:

  1. Put all the dry ingredients in a baking bowl and add in the milk a bit at a time. Stir well to avoid lumps. 
  2. Add the eggs and melted butter and stir till a smooth batter. 
  3. Leave the batter to rest for 30 minutes. 
  4. Fry the waffles in a waffle iron or flip in a pan. 

Serve hot with jam, sugar or Norwegian Brown Cheese, tuck in and nyt (enjoy!)
