Last year we trialled the first Neat Streets in Villers Street, London. Now (geographically speaking) we're moving on up - from next month until December, Neat Streets will be pitching up in the iconic and historic Grassmarket in Edinburgh. Grassmarket's great views, wide pavements and famous public houses are a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike. Unfortunately, the street also attracts litter.

In collaboration with Keep Scotland BeautifulThe City of Edinburgh Council, and local residents and shopkeepers from the Greater Grassmarket Business Improvement District (BID) we’ll explore litter prevention through behaviour change, taking our cue from the latest thinking from around the world.

We’re kicking off by building civic pride in the Grassmarket with the ‘My Street Is Your Street’ gallery; a collection of posters featuring local people (and fluffy dogs!) encouraging others to take care and pride in the Grassmarket area.

Neat Streets will also bring innovative, interactive and interesting ways for the people of the Grassmarket to dispose of their rubbish, rolling out across the year. So watch this space!
